Tree cabling

Tree cabling

Sometimes trees need some support to stand upright or to be stronger. This can be the case especially when the plant in question is very large. Another well known situation is that of the stick planted nearby as a stake, to which the tree is attached. This simple device is used to assist in stabilizing a tree until its roots take sufficient root to perform this function without external help. When someone collides with this still too small tree, or when high winds occur, the tree will be supported. Except that the reasons requiring auxiliary stabilization are varied. Let's look at some of them.

Structural Complication

It is obvious that urban tree development conditions differ from forest conditions. The urban environment is considerably less competitive than a rural or forestry sector. The additional open space around an urban tree means that it benefits more from solar lighting throughout the daytime period.

This encourages growth and can lead to destabilization of the tree's structure. For example, this may be the case because the crown has grown too much in proportion to the lower branch. In such cases, planning a combination of pruning and guying should lead to structural straightening.

Branches weakened after a storm

Thunderstorms can seriously damage trees. In forests, trees protect each other relatively well because of the proximity of neighbouring vegetation. Also, damage caused by thunderstorms occurs more rarely in proportion to the number of trees. But in cities, the way is somewhat clear, given the low density of planting. Since no close neighbors act as windbreaks, the chances of being blown down by a thunderstorm increase. And then a tree may have been destabilized more or less severely. You might think that felling it is then the only option. Contact us at 450-804-0655. We will be able to evaluate the damage and inform you of the possibilities of a guy line.  Who knows, maybe your tree could still have many years ahead of it!

Multi-trunk shafts

Another risky situation for a plant is when it has more than one trunk. Then, each one competes with the other or others. As they grow, as they increase in volume, the trunks will distance themselves from each other, as well as their respective branches. This situation exerts pressure with a high risk of breakage. Therefore, look carefully at where the logs meet to see if there are any warning signs of breakage. In addition, diseases and insects enter through the smallest crevice, increasing the danger of a subsequent partial and dangerous or even complete breakage.

Cracked trunk

At the slightest sign of a worrisome crackling sound, join our company whose mission is to maintain trees. Our recommendations will be invaluable to you. Sainte-Julie Pro Pruning has many years of experience and the required expertise. We are also able to estimate the extent of the severity as well as the technique that can be applied in various conditions. Is it still possible to prevent the tree from being cut down? Should it be pruned? Do you need to do a guying? We can determine this.

Low branches

Simple question: Where are the largest branches of a tree? Yes, the lower branches are usually the most voluminous compared to the upper ones. Why is this so? It is a characteristic due to natural circumstances. As the tree grows, little by little, the upper branch becomes larger, taking up more light for it. This takes away from the base. Then, to have some for them, the lower branches expand in width. They will thus resolutely look for light. This can lead to destabilization. In such a case, a guying made by experts could provide the tree concerned with enough support to avoid having to make a cut to restore balance to the lower branches.
